FACT: Prior to WWII there were more than 523,000 Jews in Germany, which represented about 1 percent of the German population. One of the first acts against the Jews of Germany in the 1930s was Kristallnacht — the Night of Broken Glass — where Nazis ransacked, looted, and burned Jewish-owned businesses and arrested Jews.
What followed this was the implementation of the Final Solution that exterminated 6 million Jews throughout Europe.
FACT: In Egypt today there are over 10 million Christians and they represent about 10 percent of the population. One of the first acts of the Muslim Brotherhood upon the overthrow of President Morsi: They attacked Christian Churches all over Egypt and have targeted them for death and injury.
Just as Kristallnacht was the beginning of Germany's Final Solution, radical Islam's targeting of Christians is the first stages of a Middle East "Final Solution" for them and others swept up in their fanaticism.
Attacks on Christians are not limited to Egypt.
In Syria's ancient city of Maaloula, where they still speak Aramaic, the language that Jesus spoke, there have been Christians since the time of Christ. Today they are a small final outpost of Christians in the Middle East. In August, the town was over-run by the Islamic rebels.
As the Islamic Rebels swarmed into town they demanded everyone convert to Islam or die. Sarkis el Zakhm stood up and answered them, “I am a Christian and if you want to kill me because I am a Christian, do it.” Those were Sarkis last words. Sister Carmel of Damascus said of Sarkis: “His death is true martyrdom, a death "in odium fidei" (in hatred of faith).
Elsewhere in Syria, Islamic rebels have filmed beheadings of their captives and celebrated by eating the heart of an enemy soldier. Two Christian bishops have been kidnapped and one priest recently killed.
In Iraq just last week radical Islamists in Baghdad set off a bomb in a Christian neighborhood killing eight and injuring 15.
In September, in Nigeria nine Christians were killed by Muslim rebels while protesting against violence and persecution.
Christians around the world better wake up and understand that they as well as Jews are the victims and enemies of radical Islam.
Radical Islam is modern-day Nazism and it must be stopped.
The Holy See must engage and understand the threat is real and will only increase should indifference or appeasement or surrender become their policy.
Now is the time for Christians and Jews and others to unite to root out evil before untold millions become the victims of radical Islam.
