Obama Warns Against ISIS Way Too Late

Obama’s 2014 U.N. General Assembly speech should have been delivered in 2009.

Obama began his presidency with a policy of apology and appeasement and governed the way he wished the world to be instead of the way the world was. The president believed that all he had to do was to speak kindly towards or enemies and somehow that alone would change “hearts and minds.”

What the president has learned the hard way is that our enemies in 2009 are our same enemies in 2014. Weakness breeds and feeds our enemies. It emboldens them and provides the atmosphere in which they gain power and act out.

Had President Obama in 2009 implemented his four-point strategy to deal with Middle Eastern terror, which is rooted, in radical Islam, he would not have found himself in the struggle against ISIS and other terrorists groups today.

This is Obama’s 2014 four-point plan to defeat terrorism rooted in radical Islam:

1. ISIS must be destroyed.
2. Muslims must reject terror and cut off funding to terrorist groups.
3. The world must address sectarian regimes and extremists actors.
4. Arabs and Muslims around the world must care for their young and let them reach their full potentials.

The president went on to promise American investment in programs that work toward the achievement of these goals.

Here are the problems I have with the president’s plan:

1. ISIS should have never been able to attain the power and gain the territory it has. Long before the public heard about ISIS the president and his advisers did. Why did they not build a coalition earlier to stop them? Why did we not have a strategy? Why did we not stop them?
2. The good and decent Muslims have let their religion be hijacked by a minority of fanatics. For too long they have sat on the sidelines eerily silent while groups like Isis defamed them. For too long they refused to speak up and out. Arab countries play both sides against the middle. One nations terrorist is another’s friend. Arab nations have provided funding for terrorist groups as an act of appeasement or support.
3. The U.N. has not lived up to its charter in speaking out and acting out against sectarian and extremist nations and actors. They have coddled nations like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, and North Korea.
4. When Arab and Muslim extremists learn to love their children more than they hate their enemies then peace will be possible. Nations must police the education of their children and stop the propaganda of hate from the mosques and in the classrooms.

The most important part of Obama’s U.N. speech was when he said that for too long Arabs and radical Islam has used Israel as an excuse for their hate and violence. Israel is not the problem.

We should not be overjoyed and heaping praise on the handful of Sunni nations that have joined our coalition in the fight against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The Arab nations have permitted ISIS to come to power. The Arab nations to date have refused to live by Obama’s four-point principles. It is the duty and responsibility of Arabs nations to police their own neighborhood in the first place.

From here on out America should demand that which we should have decades ago and that is the Arab nations must be held accountable for the terror and violence in the Middle East. Arabs should be on the front lines of fighting terror in the Middle East — not the U.S.

America should no longer give aid or support to Arab countries that refuse to abide by the norms of civilized society.

If the Arab world subscribes to Obama’s four-point plan of action moving forward this could be a game changer in the Middle East.

Unfortunately, this may be yet another Middle East plan for peace and security that is honored in the breach.
