There is a lot of debate about what is causing changes in the planet’s temperatures, but global warming scientists argue these 5 facts can’t be disputed:

ALERT: Is Global Warming a Hoax? Vote Now

1. Climate change is real. The climate has been in a state of flux for billions of years, and it isn’t going to stop now, says Community Digital News. Scientists on both sides of the global warming debate tend to agree that the planet has warmed by about 0.85 degrees Celsius since 1880. The disagreement comes when scientists debate the role that humans play in climate change.

2. The planet is warmer than it was in 1880. The disagreement comes over what is causing the rise. Global warming scientists believe the warming is caused by human activity. Skeptics believe the increase is due to in part to natural fluctuations.

3.
The Earth’s land-sea surface temperature has not statistically increased since 1996.  Global warming skeptics call it the great pause. In spite of a continuing, rapid rise in atmospheric CO2 concentrations since 1996, there has been no warming in the global instrumental temperature record. Community Digital News reports that every year that passes without the earth’s surface temperature rising creates problems for scientists who argue that human activity is causing global warming.

4. CO2 is on the rise because of human activity. According to research gathered at the Mauna Loa Observatory, CO2 levels have been steadily rising and are at their highest levels in recorded history. Again, the disagreement is over CO2’s role in a warming planet.

5. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that causes the planet to warm. Both skeptics and scientists who believe human activity is causing global warming agree on this point. However, they disagree on the role CO2 plays in changing the earth’s climate system and also on CO2’s role when it comes to extreme weather.
