Sitting around the deli having breakfast with my bike riding group the conversation turns to Donald Trump.

As a follower of the Scott Adams blog (he’s the creator of Dilbert), I wasn’t surprised by Trumps victory over the Republican Establishment candidates. Adams has been pointing out for some time that Trump would prevail.

One of the guys, a former Obama supporter and now anti-Clinton, says that he thinks Trump won’t win the election. His reasoning is that a 3rd party candidate will now arise combining the centrists of the Republican and Democratic parties.

Another example of fantasy rationalization which occurs when a person’s subconscious will not let them accept reality.

I pointed out that a 3rd party centrist candidate is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. He defeated the Republicans, and now he will defeat the Democrats.

As I see it, the vast reservoir of otherwise silent middle-class voters felt that Trump was their chance to revolt against the Republican Political Establishment.

More people turned out for the Republican primary than ever showed up to the polls before.

Trump was the reason.

The other candidates—other than Ben Carson—all portrayed themselves as Republican Party conservatives.

Trump’s position on the issues was pure Trump.

And the voters came out for him.

Who are these voters?

They are middle-class of the United States.

Why would the middle-class so thoroughly reject the Republican’s conservative values?

The answer is that the Republican party doesn’t live up to its billings once an election is over.

The middle-class knows, at least viscerally, there is no discernable divergence between Republicans or Democrats in power.

Their government is out of control.

It makes no difference which party controls Congress or the Presidency.

Every year, every Congress and the President spends more money than the previous year.

Unaccountable bureaucracies expand with no limitation or control over their issuing abusive regulations that dramatically treat the taxpaying voters as nothing more than serfs.

The Supreme Court consistently issues opinions that defy common sense in their deference to the power of the government.

American sovereignty is being surrendered to international organizations and globalists.

People want the government to protect the borders, and they want the government to protect them from the terror of Islam.

The middle-class feels terrorized in their homes and internationally.

The Republican’s political elitists ignored signs of the concerns of the middle-class for years.

Ross Perot got 19% of the vote as a true 3rd party candidate.

The middle-class supported the Contract with America.  The Tea Party movement got more activists elected.

The elections of 2010, 2012, and 2014 should have been wake-up calls to the Republican leadership.

The Republicans in their self-serving arrogance wrapped themselves hypocritically in the flag of conservatism then went merrily on their way taxing and spending. And not protecting America from illegal aliens or Islam.

There is a middle-class uprising happening. Trump is leading the way.
