A testy Donald Trump pummeled Anderson Cooper on live television — pointedly telling the veteran CNN newsman on Wednesday that people don't trust what he says.
The billionaire developer — angry that Cooper mentioned a Quinnipiac University poll that revealed Trump may be losing steam in three swing states — lashed out.
"It's not even a poll. It's in three different states and you are hitting me with this. Frankly, I think it is a very unfair question," Trump told Cooper on
CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."
"I am leading across the board. And then you hit me with this poll that I didn't see before … All I know is I have a very big group of support."
"Let me tell you. The people don't trust you and the people don't trust the media. And I understand why."
Trump said he had always been treated "fairly, accurately" in the financial press because of his stellar business acumen.
"You know numbers are numbers and my numbers happen to be great. So, I was always sort of treated fair," Trump said.
"Some of the political media is great. And really honest. Even if they don't want to want to be, they're really honest. But I find that 60 percent, 70 percent of the political media is really, really dishonest."
Despite his claims of a skewered media, Trump believes Americans are responding to his straight talk about the nation's issues.
"I talk about the American dream in speeches. The American dream is dead but I'm going to make it bigger, better and stronger than ever before," he said.
"The American dream is dead. But I'm going to make it bigger, stronger. Right. And I go 'boom!' and I do it with great bravado and the audience goes crazy."
On Thursday, Trump fired off a negative review of his appearance on Anderson's show via Twitter, writing:
