Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's already-narrow lead over GOP nominee Donald Trump in a national Investor's Business Daily/TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (TIPP) tracking poll has dwindled down to just 1 point following the latest news concerning her private email server.

On Saturday, the morning after FBI Director James Comey informed Congress that there were additional emails that had surfaced, Clinton was leading Trump by 4 percentage points, but on Monday, that lead dwindled to just 1 point race including Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein:

  • Clinton: 45 percent;
  • Trump: 44 percent;
  • Johnson: 4 percent;
  • Stein: 2 percent.

And in a two-way matchup:

  • Clinton: 45 percent;
  • Trump, 43 percent.

The latest IBD/TIPP poll includes 993 likely voters and carries a 3.2 point margin of error. Its results are based on a weighted sample of 390 Democrats, 319 Republicans and 268 Independent or "other" voters.

The IBD/TIPP poll is also showing that voters are having a change of heart over whether Clinton will win the election.

Before Friday's announcement, more than half those polled, no matter which candidate they supported, thought Clinton would win the presidential race, but that number dipped to 49 percent in the results released on Monday.

Further, the poll indicates a shift in the independent vote, with Trump's support jumping from 41 percent on Saturday, to 48 percent Monday.

Clinton's lead in the ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll also dropped sharply. Just five days ago, the former secretary of state was leading the tracking poll by 12 points, but on Sunday, that lead dropped to just 1 point.

Clinton's overall poll ratings also are dropping. Sunday night, Clinton was ahead by 3.4 points in the Real Clear Politics average, but on Monday morning, that had dropped slightly, to 2.9 points.

Last week, before the email server news broke, however, Clinton was leading in overall numbers by between 5 and 6 percentage points.

Sunday, the FBI obtained a warrant to review the newly discovered emails of longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin found on a device seized during a sexting investigation of her estranged husband, former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner.

The FBI wants to review the emails to see if they contain classified information and were handled properly, the focus of the earlier Clinton inquiry. A law enforcement official said Sunday FBI investigators in the Weiner sexting probe knew for weeks about the existence of the emails potentially related to the probe of Clinton's server.

Meanwhile, Comey, who said earlier this year that there was not enough evidence concerning Clinton's use of a private email server to warrant prosecution, has turned from saint to sinner for Clinton's supporters.

The Clinton campaign went into full attack mode Saturday, telling reporters in a conference call that Comey is being "light on facts" and "heavy on innuendo" with his announcement of additional evidence in the case against Clinton and her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

Clinton and her campaign are also slamming Comey for making his announcement with the election being less than two weeks away.

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Sunday wrote in a letter to Comey that his office believes his actions violate the federal Hatch Act and that "through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law."

The Hatch Act limits political activities of federal employees, such as Comey, who is a Republican, to ensure their duties are administered in a nonpartisan fashion.

Richard Painter, a former chief ethics lawyer in the George W. Bush administration, has also filed an ethics complaint against Comey, and also accused him in an opinion piece in the Sunday New York Times of violating the Hatch Act.
