"Fox News Sunday" host interviewed Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on his show this week, and noted that repeated interview requests for his rival, Hillary Clinton, have gone unanswered.
Clinton said during a debate in January that she would "go anywhere to meet with anyone at any time to find common ground," Wallace noted, but added, "Once again this week Clinton turned down our request to speak to us and the millions of you who watch this program. We’ll keep trying for an interview."
Fox also has been turned down by the Democratic National Committee for a chance to host a debate between Clinton and Sanders.
DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz recently was noncommittal to Fox's Bret Baier on his channel hosting a debate, so Wallace asked Sanders if he would be willing to participate in a Fox News debate.
"If we were clear to understand what the guidelines were and what the rules were and to make sure that they were fair and the [DNC] was in favor of it, I would have no objection," Sanders said.
Wallace asked whether Sanders thought his interview with him had been fair.
"Chris, I have seen this interview but I have also seen other interviews," Sanders said. "So if I could have a guarantee and knew who the questioners were and if the framework for the debate was fair, I would have no objection."
"I'll take that as a definite maybe," Wallace said.
