Donald Trump's campaign released a new ad in South Carolina against illegal immigration on Friday that includes support from the father of a Los Angeles high-school football star who was shot to death in 2008 by an alien gang member.
"Trump is the only one saying, you’re going to be dealt with, we’re going to enforce that," says Jamiel Shaw in the 30-second ad.
"We’re going to enforce that," he adds. "That’s a beautiful thing."
Shaw's son, Jamiel "Jas" Shaw Jr., 17, was killed by an illegal and gang member who has just been released from prison.
"I believe Donald Trump want to make us great again, and he loves America," the elder Shaw says.
In a statement accompanying the ad that was reported by
The Hill, Trump said that Shaw's story convinced him even more of the need to stop illegal immigration.
"A wonderful young man, Jamiel Shaw Jr., whose father has become a friend of mine, was shot in the face for no reason by an illegal immigrant," Trump said.
"He was getting ready to go to college on a football scholarship and his sole fault was walking home to see his father.
"Because of the relationship I have established with his father, Jamiel’s death is very personal to me," Trump said. "We must stop illegal immigration."
