The United States would have to defend Saudi Arabia against an attack from Iran, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said when pressed by Fox News host
Bill O'Reilly.
"If you are elected president, are you going to take military action against Iran?" O'Reilly asked Trump on his show Monday night. "Are you going to do something to that country?"
Trump said he would want to protect Saudi Arabia, but added the oil-rich country would have to help the United States economically.
Iran and Saudi Arabia severed ties over the weekend after Saudi Arabia executed a Shiite cleric the Saudis have accused of terrorism.
Trump also defended his new TV commercial in which video is used from Morocco to illustrate illegal immigration.
"All it is is a display of what it is going to look like and what our country looks like," Trump said. "We're like a third-world country. We are a dumping ground. So you can just take it anyway you want."
