Jeb Remains Opposed to Trump Despite Pence Pitch

Jeb Remains Opposed to Trump Despite Pence Pitch

Sunday, 14 August 2016 09:32 AM EDT

Former Gov. Jeb Bush isn't changing his mind about voting for Donald Trump, even after a visit to his office from Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

"The governor's position on Trump remains the same, and he will not be voting for him or Hillary Clinton in November," Bush spokeswoman Kristy Campbell told The Tampa Bay Times after Pence's visit.

The governor traveled to Bush's Biltmore Hotel office on July 27 as part of his outreach effort to mend fences with prominent Republicans, including Arizona Sen. John McCain and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Pence, as a governor and former U.S. Representative, is well-regarded among Republicans, including Bush, who said in July that Trump made a good choice in Pence, who he called a "good man" who "will add value to the ticket."

Bush's son, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, has endorsed Trump, but his father, former President George H.W. Bush, and his brother, former President George W. Bush, have not.
