Calling the North American Free Trade Agreement "one of the worst deals that anyone in history has ever been into," President Donald Trump hinted no renegotiated deal with Canada and Mexico can be reached without terminating NAFTA first.
"I don't think we can make a deal," President Trump told an Arizona rally late Tuesday night. "We have been so badly taken advantage of. They have made such great deals – both of the countries, but in particular, Mexico.
"I don't think we can make a deal. I think we will end up probably terminating NAFTA at some point."
President Trump has signaled negotiations will be better for the United States if the deal is first terminated.
"We will renegotiate NAFTA, or we will terminate NAFTA," President Trump added. "I personally don't think you can make a deal without a termination, but we will see what happens. OK?
"You are in good hands, I can tell you."
