Air Obama to Fly After Elections

Wednesday, 20 October 2010 08:36 AM EDT

President Obama is leaving the country right after the midterm elections, troubling some Democrats, who believe the exodus will only aggravate matters if the Republican Party wins a House majority on Nov. 2, according to a report in The Hill.

obama, trip, elections“Unless we're planning to hold the lame duck in India, it makes zero sense to take a 10-day overseas trip right after what could be a disastrous midterm election,” said a Democratic strategist.

“It will demoralize Democrats and needlessly cede message and momentum to Republicans,” the strategist added.

The Obama camp, however, touts the trip — covering Japan, South Korea and Indonesia — as an important part of jump-starting the economy.
