Rep. Allen West: Obama Using ‘Scare Tactics’

Wednesday, 13 July 2011 12:03 PM EDT

Rep. Allen West says President Barack Obama is ruling by “intimidation and scare tactics” by warning that delivery of Social Security checks could be curtailed if a decision isn’t reached on the Allen West, Barack Obamadebt ceiling by the Aug. 2 deadline, Mediaite.com reports.

In an interview with Fox News, West said he did not believe that checks would stop going out, but that he was concerned with the administration’s bullying over the debt crisis.

“My concern is that we have a president that is not willing to do his job, and that is to prioritize the spending, that he is digging in his heels, being very intransigent, and he’s being a rigid ideologue,” said West, R-Fla. “And he must understand that every single one of his economic policies have failed. So I think it’s time that he realize that he does not have the moral high ground in this argument.”

NationalTeaPartyAlert.com, meanwhile, has issued this proclamation, which Fox posted ahead of its interview with West: “If Republicans cede to Obama’s demands to raise America’s debt ceiling above the already staggering current limit of $14.3 trillion, Obamacare will be funded, the bailouts will continue, and out-of-control bureaucrats will stay fat and happy.”
