Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann says that, if Republicans win control of the House in November, they should issue subpoenas and investigate the Obama administration.
Attending the GOP Youth Convention in Washington on Thursday, Bachmann was asked: “How do you feel about the chances for a little oversight and a little accountability now that the Republicans will have the subpoena power?”
“Oh, I think that’s all we should do,” Bachmann responded in remarks recorded by the Three Fingers of Politics blog.
“I think that all we should [do] is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another and expose all the nonsense that is going on.
“It’s very important when we come back that we have constitutional conservative leadership . . . We have to do what the people want us to do.”
A Bachmann spokesman told Politico that “investigating the administration for their mischief is a big priority,” along with “repealing Obamacare, restoring the free markets and making sure we stop the spending spree.”
Bachmann told Newsmax this year that Obamacare is “the largest middle-class tax increase in American history” and “political poison” for the Democrats.
She said on Thursday that, with a GOP win in the House in November, “we have the power of the purse, so we can starve Obamacare. We don’t have to fund any of these programs and that’s exactly what we need to do — defund all this nonsense and then unwind it.”
