CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson says the White House is furious about her persistent questions challenging Attorney General Eric Holder’s insistence that he didn't know about the botched ATF program “Fast and Furious” until a few months ago.
Attkisson said on “The Laura Ingraham Show” that the White House and Holder have backpedaled in recent weeks in their response to allegations that the program allowed firearms to make their way into the hands of criminals and drug cartels in Mexico that led to the murder of at least one U.S. federal agent. They finally are admitting to mistakes, she said.
But federal officials also have been tempestuous in response to Attkisson’s recent queries about Holder’s response to congressional questioning.
Department of Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler “was just yelling at me” and refused to clarify her stance in writing, Attkisson told Ingraham. White House spokesman Eric Schultz, meanwhile, “literally screamed at me and cussed at me,” she said.
Attkisson, who has been leading CBS coverage of the program, told Ingraham that the White House and Department of Justice have been attempting to discredit her and her investigation of Fast and Furious: “They will tell you I am the only reporter . . . that is not reasonable . . . I’m the only one who thinks this is a story and they think I’m unfair and biased for following the story.”
Ingraham blasted the White House over violating its own pledge of “transparency.”
