Grassley: Obama Still Unqualified for Presidency

Wednesday, 20 October 2010 11:28 AM EDT

President Barack Obama may be intelligent, but that doesn’t mean he’s qualified for the job, says Sen. Chucky Grassley, R-Iowa (pictured). In fact, he’s not, the five-term Senate veteran maintains, according to The Hill.

Chuck, grassley, obama, qualified“I imagine he’s darned intelligent, but I think he’s in over his head,” Grassley told the editorial board of the Quad City Times. “He’s just not quite ready to be president. But he is president, so you don’t worry about that.”

Few would be more qualified to judge Obama's suitability for the office than Grassley. He was first elected to the Senate in 1980, before the president had even graduated from college.

Grassley does give Obama credit for dealing well with people "one-on-one." But he says the president has made a mistake in choosing to dump the missile defense shield in Eastern Europe championed by former President George W. Bush and showing weakness to foreign leaders.
