Saturday, 18 June 2011 08:08 AM EDT

Rep. Michele Bachmann says President Barack Obama has a secret plan in which America's elderly would be forced to enroll in Obamacare after Medicare goes bankrupt, reports The New York Times' The Caucus blog.

“This hasn’t been talked about very much – the president’s plan for Michele Bachmann, Barack Obama, 2012 Presidential Election, Medicaresenior citizens is Obamacare,” Bachmann said Friday night at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans. “I think very likely what the president intends is that Medicare will go broke and ultimately that answer will be Obamacare for senior citizens.”

Bachmann, R-Minn., said she was at a White House meeting where Obama had three opportunities to reveal his strategy to keep Medicare solvent. But, she said, Obama's “gift to senior citizens is to steal from them $500 billion out of Medicare.”

Bachmann, who announced her presidential candidacy on Monday night, also said her No. 1 goal after becoming president would be to repeal Obamacare.

“I wonder if they’re listening in the White House right now,” Bachmann said, according to the Times. “You will, come November of 2012, you’ll listen then.”
