The New York Times profiles Newsmax Media in Monday's editions with a page one Business section story headlined, "A Compass for Conservative Politics."
The paper reports that Newsmax.com, the company's popular news website, is now second in the national only to FoxNews.com in drawing conservative online readers.
The Times declares that Newsmax has become an "influential media company that has established itself as a potent force in conservative politics."
The story also details the rise of the company's print monthly, Newsmax magazine.
"Its circulation is growing, a rarity among magazines," the Times says. Newsmax magazine, with a circulation of 230,000 paid subscribers, now reaches more homes than The Weekly Standard or the National Review.
Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy says, “We’re part of the conversation” taking place in national politics, and the Times notes that almost every major Republican presidential candidate has visited its corporate headquarters in West Palm Beach, Fla. Even former President Bill Clinton dropped by last year.
