Tax Expert Norquist: Don't Expect Loss to Change Obama

Wednesday, 03 November 2010 01:09 PM EDT

President Barack Obama’s policies propelled a huge defeat for his Democratic Party in the midterm elections Tuesday. But don’t expect him to do anything differently, says Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “In 2009 and 2010, Barack Obama spent other people’s political lives with as much disdain as he spends other people’s money. What suggests this will change?” Norquist tells Politico.

Grover Norquist, Obama, taxes, election, Democrats“The taxes, regulations, and costs of Obamacare will become clearer over the next four years, not more obscure,” he maintains. “There are two more waves coming for the same reason this one hit. Independents who swung against Bush’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq did not ever understand his actual political agenda of creating a European welfare state on this side of the Atlantic.”

Norquist compares Obama with French generals who “spent their soldiers on fruitless assaults and were stubborn, incapable of understanding the damage they did and not wise enough to rethink.”
