A CNN/Opinion Research survey shows that 47 percent of Americans now disapprove of Obama’s job performance, while 50 percent approve.

Obama’s approval rating had increased to 55 percent in a CNN poll immediately after the president’s State of the Union address in January.

Meanwhile, an ABC News/Washington Post poll shows that Obama’s approval rating has dipped to 51 percent from a high of 54 percent in mid-January.

Obama’s approval rating still exceeds what he received during most of the second half of 2010.

In the CNN poll, Obama’s approval rating among independents stands at only 46 percent, while 49 percent disapprove.
