Paul Hints at Third-Party Run If Not Nominated

By    |   Sunday, 30 October 2011 03:00 PM EDT

Ron Paul has not ruled out a third-party candidacy if he loses the GOP nomination for president, the Texas congressman said on CNN’s “State of the Union” today.

“I have no intention of doing it,” Paul said. “Nobody’s particularly asked me to do it. And they know what I’m doing, and I have no plans whatsoever to do it.”

A third-party run might not be as disastrous for his campaign as he previously thought, he said.

“I don’t think it would doom it,” he said. “It would cause a little bit of a problem.”

Last week, Paul said a bid for the White House as anything other than a Republican might undercut his chances for election.
