Former Gov. Sarah Palin could beat President Barack Obama if she chooses to run for president in 2012, insists political commentator Andrew Sullivan.
"She’ll be the principled candidate," said Sullivan, during an appearance on "The Chris Matthews Show."
When Matthews asked if it was conceivable that Palin could be elected president, Sullivan was unequivocal. "Yes," he said.

"Her position has been formerly if no one else will represent this grassroots movement of cutting government down to size and standing up for America abroad, then I will have to go in."
Palin has yet to announce a fornal candidacy, but she said recently that she has the "fire in the belly" to run for the White House.
"She started running the day after the 2008 election ended, and there’s no reason to believe she isn’t running," Sullivan said.
