House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proved to be a millstone around Democrats’ neck during the mid-term elections. And now moderate Rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina
(pictured) says he will challenge Pelosi for the House Democratic Leader position if she doesn’t step aside,
The Hill reports.

While Shuler concedes that he doesn’t have the backing to beat Pelosi, he told CNN that Democrats deserve a more moderate candidate. “If it comes down to this coming week, and she doesn’t step aside, then I will challenge her," he says.
Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina says Pelosi definitely won’t abandon her bid for the Democratic Leader job. "She's made the declaration. We all know that she will be a candidate. And as Heath Shuler just said, if he were to get in the race, he would not be successful," Clyburn said on CNN.
