The chairman of the House Republican Conference says he expects President Barack Obama to do more listening than talking when he visits a GOP retreat Friday.
Rep. Mike Pence said "we want to have a serious conversation with the president about our proposals." Asked if Republicans were ready to meet Obama halfway on such volatile issues as health care, tax cuts and federal spending, Pence said these issues must be discussed.
The Indiana Republican told ABC's "Good Morning America" the GOP plans to "hear from the president for a few minutes, but he's going to hear from us for a while" at the session in Baltimore. On economic policy, he accused the administration of "playing a lot of small ball" by focusing on targeted tax cuts and targeted spending.
