Bipartisanship apparently goes only so far in the White House. While President Barack Obama is more than happy to court Republicans when he needs their support for legislation he seeks to pass, his overtures to the GOP don’t necessarily go any further than that.
Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have invited only Democratic governors to a private meeting where they will discuss “the ways Washington and the states can work together to grow the economy and create jobs,” the White House says, according to
Politico.
Given that Republicans control 29 of the 50 governors’ mansions you’d think that the administration might want to consider including them. Perhaps this is payback for Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s stance against public unions and the support other Republican governors have voiced for him.
