Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan admits he was hurt when candidate Barack Obama denounced him during the election for president.
But he says he understands now because Obama’s election was too important. In fact, he suggests, it was part of a process begun long ago when Obama was “selected” and groomed during his early days as a community organizer in Chicago.
In a two-hour interview with Cathy Hughes on "TV One on One" broadcast Saturday, Farrakhan described the role he and Obama’s elders played. In 2008, Farrakhan said that when Obama talks "the Messiah is absolutely speaking."
“Some of us have to recognize what our role is. Our role was to put him into orbit,” Farrakhan said in Saturday’s interview. “And we come back to earth knowing that in four years, in eight years, he’s coming back, too. So don’t get bent out of shape because you feel dissed.”
