Obama Caught Criticizing Netanyahu

By    |   Monday, 07 November 2011 09:51 PM EST

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Barack Obama were reportedly caught on open microphones talking disparagingly about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ynetnews.com reports.

According to a Monday report in the French website "Arret sur Images," after the two leaders spoke to reporters during a G20 press conference last week, they retired to a private room to continue discussions on the day's events.

The leaders' microphones had been inadvertently left on.

At one point, Sarkozy told Obama that he did not like Netanyahu, saying, "I cannot stand him. He is a liar."
According to the report, Obama replied: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"

The two leaders' microphones remained on for several minutes.  The press was not aware of the open mics until later, as most had headsets provided during the summit for simultaneous translation.

Members of the press said those present were asked not to report on the matter due to the "sensitivity of the matter."
