Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, who has surged to the top of several polls in Iowa and nationwide, is the clear front-runner among Republicans in Colorado, according to a Quinnipiac University survey released on Wednesday.
Here are the numbers in Colorado among GOP candidates:
- Carson: 25 percent
- Marco Rubio: 19 percent
- Donald Trump: 17 percent
- Ted Cruz: 14 percent
- Carly Fiorina: 5 percent
- Rand Paul: 3 percent
- Jeb Bush: 2 percent
- Undecided: 11 percent
Among Democrats:
- Hillary Clinton: 55 percent
- Bernie Sanders: 27 percent
- Martin O’Malley: 2 percent
- Undecided: 15 percent
Clinton trails all leading Republican contenders in Colorado, according to the poll.
- Rubio leads Clinton 52 to 36 percent
- Carson leads Clinton 52 to 38 percent
- Cruz leads Clinton 51 to 38 percent
- Trump leads Clinton 48 – 37 percent
Clinton has the lowest favorability rating among candidates in Colorado, a negative 33 to 61 percent.
"A chilly if not frigid reception for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in her second quest for the White House," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "As winter moves into the Rockies, Coloradans say the Democratic front-runner would get bruised and beaten by all the top GOP opponents, and absolutely crushed by Sen. Marco Rubio and Dr. Ben Carson."
Trump received a negative 34 to 58 rating among voters. Also, 32 percent of Republicans said they "definitely not" support Trump.
Carson, Rubio, Cruz and Sanders all received positive favorability ratings.
