According to
a new CNN/ORC survey, a large majority of Americans believe that House Speaker John Boehner and other Republican congressional leaders should not have invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress.
Results of the survey, released Tuesday, show that 63 percent of Americans say it was a bad move for congressional leadership to extend the invitation, while just 33 percent "say it was the right thing to do,"

The question was worded as follows: "Do you think Congressional leaders did the right thing or the wrong thing by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress without first notifying the President that they would do so?"
But the premise of the question appears to be false.
According to The New York Times, the assertion that Netanyahu failed to notify the Obama administration of his visit is untrue. On Jan. 30, the Times included a correction at the end of a story that ran the day before about the strained relationship between Netanyahu and congressional Democrats.

the paper's correction, which read: "An earlier version of this article misstated when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel accepted Speaker John A. Boehner's invitation to address Congress. He accepted after the administration had been informed of the invitation, not before."
The dispute between Washington and Jerusalem is said to stem from deep differences over the Obama administration's approach to nuclear negotiations with Iran.
The administration says it is working to negotiate an agreement to head off Tehran's ability to develop nuclear weapons. Israeli officials have made the argument that Washington has given the Iranians
"80 percent of what they want" in the negotiations, and that these concessions will leave Iran in a position to threaten the Jewish state with nuclear weapons.
