Rep. Peter King: 9/11 Lesson Is Ex-Gitmo Detainees Threat to US

Rep. Peter King says President Barack Obama should remember the lessons of 9/11 and stop releasing detainees from the military base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Appearing Thursday on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File," the New York Republican was responding to reports that one of the Taliban 5 released in 2014 in exchange for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has made contact with terrorists.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at the time that the men were not a threat to the United States, but only to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"Secretary Clinton is wrong," King told Fox News. "The fact is if they were a threat to Afghanistan, if they were a threat to anyone in the world, they were a threat to the United States."

"If we learned anything from Sept. 11, it is that Islamist terrorists, their ultimate target is the United States," King said. "And Secretary Clinton above all should know that."
