Poll: Most Voters Worried About Terror Attacks in US

In the wake of attacks in New York and New Jersey last month, more than half of U.S. voters are worried about terrorism, according to a recent Politico/Morning Consult poll.

The majority believe there are high chances of a terrorist attack in the United States over the next few months.

The survey breakdown shows:

• High chances: 56 percent;
• Not very likely: 21 percent;
• Not likely at all: 7 percent.

The poll also revealed 42 percent of Democrats think a terrorist attack in the next few months is somewhat or very likely. While more Republicans fear attacks, massive 71 percent think a terrorist attack is somewhat or very likely.

Sixty percent independents think an attack is very or somewhat likely in the coming months.

For voters, security issues seemed to be of major concern, the survey showed. When asked about the topmost issue voters considered while voting, 24 percent chose security.

The poll, which was conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, had 1,991 participants and the margin of error is 2 percent.
