Ignoring the backlash against his rebuke of U.S. flag and National Anthem protests in the NFL, President Donald Trump tweeted his approval of "solidarity" shown Sunday by those standing in locked arms, adding "kneeling is not acceptable" and ripping the NFL for its "bad ratings."
Earlier Sunday morning, President Trump tweeted rips of the "boring" NFL, saying if fans would stop going to games, NFL teams would be forced to "fire or suspend" players for "disrespecting our flag and country."
One NFL player, a U.S. Army Ranger veteran who served in Afghanistan, broke with his team's "unification meeting" plan to stay in the locker room during the National Anthem.
Also, Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., tweeted his own support of President Trump's NFL rebuke, saying he is "proud to stand with Trump" to show support for National Anthem, "America's military, and police."
The ire against the U.S. president was not limited to the NFL either. The Golden State Warriors have declined to accept the obligatory White House invitation extended to the NBA league champion.
The NHL Stanley Cup champions apparently will not stage the same protest, as President Trump also tweeted Sunday afternoon.
