U2 frontman and AIDS activist Bono – a critic of President Donald Trump in the past – was full of praise for the president's No. 2, telling Vice President Mike Pence "we really appreciate" his past support for AIDS relief.
In a meeting Saturday with Pence at the Munich Security Conference, Bono's remarks concerned the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a global initiative that was touted by Pence when he was a congressman on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and helped in passing an emergency plan for international AIDS relief, ABC News reported.
The video of their brief meeting was tweeted by the network.
"Twice on the House floor you defended that," Bono told Pence. "That’s how we know you. And we really appreciate it."
Pence, who delivered remarks at the conference, returned his praise, telling Bono: "It was an extraordinary historic accomplishment and you played a leading role in carrying it forward."
Bono also was a speaker at the security conference, ABC News reported.
