The Border Patrol encounters illegal immigrants carrying infectious diseases on a regular basis along the Texas border, according to an officer interviewed by
InfoWars.
"We see tuberculosis pretty regularly," border agent Chris Cabrera told the site.
Scabies is also common, the officer said, but the skin disease is not visible when it's infectious. "So these people clear through our system and then they go into the rest of the country with that disease."
Cabrera, who is also the vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, said the agents also see measles, chickenpox, lung infections and some illnesses they can't identify. "We have no idea what they are."
In 2014, according to the agent, areas with sick illegal immigrants were cordoned off with yellow caution tape. Today, no quarantine facility or treatment for the diseases exists.
"We do still have the yellow tape," he said. "Sometimes they use a red tape — I don't know if there's any significance there."
Cabrera said that he has seen children "2,3,4 years old" left on riverbanks alone, and some have died of exhaustion.
He agrees with likely Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's idea for a border wall. But he said it would not work without increased detection by electronic surveillance or helicopters.
Cabrera has spoken about other difficulties involved in the Border Patrol's operations. He said that officers are willing to man the boats more regularly, but the agency is not willing to take manpower away from the stations.
In May, he criticized a Border Patrol agency proposal to reward officers who do not use deadly force against armed suspects. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard," Cabrera said,
