President-elect Donald Trump vowed no more new criminal investigations into Hillary Clinton, saying she "suffered greatly," but the new administration might press its hand-picked ambassadors on "backroom moves to investigate" the Clinton Foundation, the N.Y. Post reported.

That includes influencing foreign governments to probe the foundation's financial dealings, as many are "already turning off money spigots to the scandal-scarred group," according to the report.

This possibility creates a new dynamic for the ambassador posts about to be selected for the new regime.

"Haiti and Colombia will be key diplomatic posts for this because of all the money involved," a source told the Post.

The report outlined the following countries of interest in relation to government money funneled to the Clintons:

  • Haiti: "Friends of Bill" Clinton might have been given State Department priority, when aid was needed after a 2010 earthquake.
  • Colombia: Connections to a $100 million foundation pledge by Canadian mining mogul Frank Giustra, who reportedly acquired land to set up an oil business.
  • Millions from governments in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden and Ireland.
  • Comptrollers in France, according to a document reviewed by the Post, "began following a trail of tens of millions in government money that ended up in Clinton Foundation coffers."
  • Australia announced last week it would cease its Clinton Foundation dealings, and "Norway is also scaling back" after donating $25 million in 2015, the Post reported.
