A political action committee for former UN ambassador John Bolton is circulating a petition to have Hillary Clinton jailed for her use of a private email server during her stint as secretary of state.
"Hillary Clinton is a threat to national security roughly equivalent to Barack Obama," the online petition from John Bolton PAC states.
"And the greatest proof of that threat is her utter total disdain for the protect of classified information entrusted to her as Secretary of State . . . Hillary is unfit to serve as president of the United States and, under the law, needs to go to jail for her crimes."
The petition comes just a week after Bolton delivered a similarly scathing attack on Clinton at the
annual CPAC convention outside Washington, D.C.
"Hillary is in deep legal jeopardy — and she should be," Bolton told the gathering of conservatives, the
Washington Times reports.
And in an interview with
Breitbart News last week, Bolton also argued "people are indoctrinated on how to protect this information" but that "Clinton people just ignored it."
A House Select Committee's investigation into the Benghazi attack led to the revelation of a private email server and account used by Clinton as secretary of state; the use is under investigation, but the issue has dogged her Democratic
presidential campaign.
In the email to supporters, Bolton writes "we'd be crazy to simply trust Obama's Justice Department to prosecute Hillary, or any other Obama officials who endangered our national security, to the fullest extent of the law."
"Our action and oversight is required to ensure that justice is done."
