Rep. Blackburn: Buying Fetal Body Parts 'Like Shopping on a Retail Website'

Rep. Marsha Blackburn told Newsmax TV Monday that buying body parts from aborted fetuses is comparable to and as easy as buying something from a retail website.

The Tennessee Republican, who sits on the committee investigating claims that Planned Parenthood sold fetal body parts, told host J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime" the committee uncovered some alarming facts.

"The morning of [a recent] hearing we went to one of the procurement businesses' website," Blackburn said. "You could put in the length of gestation that you wanted this unborn baby to be, you could put in if you wanted a liver or a heart or a lung or an arm or a scalp, and then the price was listed. It was like shopping on a retail website.

"Then you could proceed to check out, you could pay for your purchase, you could select your shipping method, and then you had placed your order."

Blackburn said the practice of selling "human body parts of any type" is against federal law, but it seems the line between selling and donating tissue is murky.

"They can recover the costs that are related directly to the tissue donation, you know, organ donation is very active," she said.

The Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives will put together its report by the end of the year and hand it off to another committee, which will then determine if any action should be taken.
