Megyn Kelly on Monday launched her new morning show on NBC, taking about 30 seconds to bring up her old life as a cable show political anchor and how it might intersect with her new network role.
The former Fox News primetime host and political maven kicked off "Megyn Kelly Today" with a monologue that quickly showed she's pivoting away.
"Then we will be dissecting the latest tweet from President Trump … oh no, we would not do that … no, we will not be doing that. The truth is, I am kinda done with politics for now, OK?" Kelly told the studio audience.
"You know why … you all see it. It's everywhere and it's gotten so dark," Kelly said.
The show's launch was many months in the making and comes almost 9 months after NBC lured Kelly away from Fox News.
It also comes with NBC executives holding their collective breath, fearful that the ratings for Kelly's "Today" show wouldn't justify their multi-million investment (reportedly $15-$20 million) after ratings that tanked for her first enterprise on the network, "Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly."
