Despite recent reports of a possible effort to draft Mitt Romney into the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, the former Massachusetts governor is still not interested, associates said.
"I really doubt he would do it," a Romney friend
told CNN.
The Washington Post reported this week that establishment Republicans, fearful that current front-runners Donald Trump and Ben Carson could win the nomination, were weighing a campaign to draft Romney into the race.
Romney associates did tell CNN, however, that the idea comes up within the former governor's circles just about every two weeks.
Last month, Romney dismissed the idea of a third White House bid.
"I can't imagine running right now and I'm glad I'm not in this race," Romney told Jake Tapper in a
"State of the Union" interview on Oct. 18. "I think the American people want to see a new face."
