Famed opera tenor Andrea Bocelli will not perform at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration because of a bitter backlash, the New York Post reported Monday night.
"Bocelli said there was no way he'd take the gig . . . he was getting too much heat, and he said no," the Post reported, citing an unnamed source.
Another unnamed source, however, told the Post it was Trump who suggested Bocelli not participate because of the blowback.
"It's sad people on the left kept him from performing on a historic day," that source told the newspaper.
A campaign on Twitter, #BoycottBocelli, sprang up in protest of the singer's reported participation at the Jan. 20 inauguration ceremony.
