Fans Support Black Conservative, 12, After Online Threats

By    |   Sunday, 05 July 2015 11:11 PM EDT

C.J. Pearson, the 12-year-old black conservative who has been a vocal online critic of President Barack Obama is receiving support from his fans after leaving social media amid reported threats.

The team that manages Pearson's Facebook account posted screen grabs from Twitter of comments directed at Pearson on Thursday by a user with the handle @MonaB2010 (Mona Hussein Obama.)

"If you're not the an [sic] official GOP, then they need to denounce u. Otherwise we go for the lawsuit," the person tweeted, followed by "pooh no sorry your fam has been bowing down to white ppl. So it’s the rest that need to be killed" and "Wish we could switch Trayvon's life for yours."

She ended with, "you don't need to copy me to all your little racist noise machine feeds. I'll see you in court. Will file Tuesday."

The exchange frightened Pearson, who announced on Twitter and Facebook he was leaving political discussions until he had talked to his parents.

"After much thought and consideration, I've decided to take a break from politics and political commentary. I had a horribly rough night on Twitter after a woman not only threatened to sue me for expressing my opinions but threatened my family," he said. "At this point, I've decided that it's best for me to take a step back and evaluate all of my options before continuing down this path."

His Facebook team said he was in better spirits after church on Sunday, and he has said he will make a public statement this week.

Fans are supporting him on Twitter with the hastag #StandWithCJ and are raising funds for him to buy new electronic equipment to continue his online activities.

For her part, @MonaB2010 claims on her Twitter profile that she has been attacked by "RWNJs" (Right-wing nut jobs) and that "Black Twitter" has supported her. Her account has been locked, so only Twitter friends can see her tweets.

Pearson's conversation with @MonaB2010 began after he criticized actor George Takei's attack on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' same-sex marriage dissent. Takei called Thomas a "clown in blackface."
