The Pentagon wouldn't say during a press conference on Tuesday whether top-secret intelligence stored on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server,
The Washington Free Beacon reports.
Newly tapped Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook, in his first press conference, deflected questions about whether top-secret intelligence, including photographs taken by reconnaissance satellites and aircraft, was compromised while it was stored on Clinton's private email server.
"I think this an issue best left to the State Department," Cook told reporters. "They've had to address this, and also Secretary Clinton. It's not something that I think makes sense for me to get into from right here at this podium."
Cook also declined to say whether the Pentagon is investigating whether its information fell into the wrong hands, the Free Beacon reported.
Clinton
has repeatedly asserted that she did not send any classified information over the email system and did not receive any emails marked "classified."
U.S. Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III has reported that at least 305 emails out of the 60,000 once kept on the private server have been found to contain classified information.
