Hospital Releases Video of Nurse With Ebola

By    |   Thursday, 16 October 2014 10:58 PM EDT

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas has released a video of nurse Nina Pham talking to her treating physician, Dr. Gary Weinstein.

In the video, Pham appears upbeat just prior to being flown to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Story continues below video.

"Come to Maryland, everybody," Pham says.

Pham tested positive for Ebola after treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person diagnosed with the virus inside the United States. Duncan, a Liberian national, had flown to Dallas from his home country. He died of Ebola complications last week.

"Thanks for getting well. Thanks for being part of the volunteer team to take care of our first patient," Weinsten says to Pham in the video. "It means a lot. This has been a huge effort by all of you guys."

Another nurse who treated Duncan, Amber Vinson, also tested positive for Ebola and is being treated an Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Hospital officials say the two nurses were moved from Dallas because it is now short-staffed because dozens of other employees are staying home to be monitored for Ebola symptoms.
