Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is throwing her support behind Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert to replace John Boehner as Speaker of the House, saying that the GOP needs "new energy."
"I love Louie Gohmert," she said during an interview on Fox News' "Hannity." "I love those Texan politicians who call it like they see it and are true conservatives. So I will be rooting for Louie."

Palin told host Sean Hannity that Boehner should be ousted from his leadership role for his support of the $1 trillion "cromnibus" budget last month.
Although conservatives had hoped to use the $1 trillion spending bill as leverage to hold up President Barack Obama’s executive order on immigration, Boehner rallied moderates to support the bipartisan legislation.
In an apparent attack on Boehner, Palin said that she’s hoping Gohmert wins the vote for the speakership because he will stick to his campaign promises, according to
The Daily Caller.
"I think Speaker Boehner, unfortunately, did not listen to many of us who were saying all along, when you campaign one way and govern another way, man, that is a turn off, and really it is unethical," she said. "We don’t have to put up with that.
"So those that have gone along just to get along with President Obama, like Speaker Boehner, we need to thank them for their service and say time for new energy and time for commitment to those campaign promises to be fulfilled."
Palin, who was the GOP vice presidential candidate in 2008, also noted that the national debt had "increased $4 trillion under the speaker’s leadership."
"Pick a side when you are in a position like that," she said. "Are you go to negotiate and make deals with the far left, or are you going to consult with conservatives, with those that are your base?
"He made a choice. We thank him for his service and it’s time for some new energy."
Despite facing four rivals from within his own party including Gohmert, Boehner is expect to be re-elected as Speaker when the House votes Tuesday.
