Tony Perkins: Give Refugee Status to Christians Targeted By ISIS

By    |   Monday, 16 February 2015 09:51 PM EST

Just as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is urging persecuted Jews in Europe to immigrate to Israel, President Barack Obama should be offering refugee status to Christians targeted by the Islamic State (ISIS), says Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

Instead, Perkins said Monday on Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File," the White House even refuses to acknowledge 21 Egyptians beheaded by ISIS in a video released over the weekend were killed because they are Christians.

An official White House statement referred to them only as "Egyptian citizens."

"ISIS made very clear in this video that this was an execution of 'People of the Cross,'" Perkins said. "ISIS apparently has no difficulty saying 'Christian' while the White House has a very difficult time."

Perkins called it "troubling" that the Obama administration refuses to use the term while a genocide of Christians is happening in the Middle East.

"Why not say to these Christians who are being killed for their faith that they're welcome to come here and have refugee status here in the United States or safe haven here in the United States?" Perkins said.
