One of the co-authors of the book, "American Sniper," which the recently released movie is based on, says that the movie accurately "captures the essence" of the late veteran who the movie is based on.

"Chris Kyle was a man, who as it also says in the trailer, who believed in the war that he was fighting," author Jim DeFelice told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newsmax TV Tuesday.

"More importantly, he believed in the job that he had to do which was to protect not only his fellow Americans . . . but the bigger part of his job really was to protect the Iraqis who were there," he explained.

"I would say that easily every day he was protecting more Iraqis than he was protecting Americans," he said.

"There were quite a number of instances where he was able, along with the other SEALs and the other Americans who were on the job there, thwarted people who were planting IED's who were going to carry out attacks against markets and other places," he contends.

If those attacks had been successful, "the victims there would've been Iraqis, innocent Iraqis, Iraqis who were trying to just kind of get on with their lives and, unfortunately, we sometimes lose sight of that as we're talking about the war," he added.

As the co-author Kyle's autobiography, "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History" DeFelice says "that the movie gets better every time I see it." The movie was released Christmas Day. "What the movie really does is capture the essence of who Chris, not only Chris, but the other warriors just like him, who those people are and who their families are," he explained.
