The upcoming Israeli election could be a squeaker, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will likely triumph, says Danny Danon, a Likud party member of the Knesset who is opposing Netanyahu.
"I believe that Netanyahu and my party will win," Danon, who was Netanyahu's former deputy minister of defense said Friday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

"It will not be easy, but the public understands that [with] all the threats, they need a responsible government."
Danon, Netanyahu's sole opponent in the election to be held March 17, opposes Palestinian statehood and wants to increase the number of candidates in the Israeli parliament.
He told Steve Malzberg that Iran continues to play a "game" with the United States in their ongoing nuclear disarmament negotiations — a dangerous game.
"The deception of the Iranians … I don't know whether the administration is aware of that or maybe they want to play the game," Danon said.
"That's what you'll hear from Prime Minister Netanyahu when he will come to Washington D.C. [at the invitation of Congress].
"Time is a crucial issue. We cannot continue to postpone negotiations, because they are not postponing the building of [bombs]. They're continuing to enrich uranium. That's why we cannot allow it to continue."
Danon said that Arab countries are worried about the U.S. dragging its feet in stopping an Iran threat.
"Absolutely, maybe to the administration it seems that we're panicking because Iran is aiming the missiles against us, but they should speak with the Saudis, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, they will hear the same voices," he said.
"When we speak with our Arab neighbors, the first issue that is being discussed … is the Iranian threat. Not only for Israel, the threat to the Sunnis who live in the region.
"They understand the Iranians will continue to send troops — it's going to be Hezbollah, it's going to be Hamas, it's going to be other forces."
