Newsmax TV begins its Prime Time block of programming with "
Newsmax Prime," a hard-hitting look at the biggest political stories of the day hosted by former Congressman J.D. Hayworth.
The compelling, wide-ranging Newsmax TV
show airs Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET.
After working at TV stations in Greenville, S.C., and Cincinnati, Hayworth spent seven years on the air at a CBS affiliate in Arizona. He was elected to Congress in 1994 as part of the first Republican House majority in 40 years.
Hayworth served with the GOP leadership team during his freshman term and became the first Arizonan to serve on the Ways and Means Committee. He also became chairman of the Conservative Opportunity Society.
After six terms on Capitol Hill, Hayworth returned to broadcasting as a talk radio host in Phoenix in 2007. He stepped away from a highly rated afternoon show to unsuccessfully challenge John McCain in the 2010 Arizona GOP Senate primary.
Recent guests on "Newsmax Prime" include General Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA and CIA, who explored whether tensions between Russia and the U.S. are a sign we are slipping back into a Cold War.
Former NYPD commissioner Bernard Kerik joined the show to discuss the hunt for the two escaped killers in New York State.
And Pete Hoekstra, former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, discussed the Iran nuclear agreement and word that Russian President Vladimir Putin may offer to bail out debt-laden Greece.
