Afghan Filmmaker: People Feel 'Thrown Out to the Dogs'

Sonia Nassery Cole, the Afghan-American activist and director of the award-winning documentary "The Black Tulip," believes the turmoil in Iraq is a preview of what Afghanistan can expect when American troops depart.

"What's happening in Iraq, it's exactly what's going to happen in Afghanistan, and worse,'' Cole told "The Steve Malzberg Show'' on Newsmax TV.

"Are we crazy? Are we not seeing what's happening? And we're saying, well, it's not our problem. Let the government of Iraq handle it.''

Several Iraqi cities have been seized in the past week by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, [ISIS], an al-Qaida splinter group, which is now closing in on Baghdad.

"There are a lot more Osamas now out there in Afghanistan,'' Cole warned, referring to 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden.

"The Afghan people are feeling deceived and really thrown out to the dogs now.''

She said the controversial release of five Taliban terrorists in exchange for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl "was just a nail on the coffin.''

Cole's acclaimed film, "The Black Tulip,'' tells the story of an Afghan family that becomes targeted by the Taliban when they open a restaurant.
