Dick Morris: 'World Is Much Less Forgiving' of Bill Clinton Today

Bill Clinton's much-anticipated entry onto the Democratic presidential campaign trail for wife Hillary may prove to be a rude awakening for the "born politician," according to Newsmax TV political analyst Dick Morris.

In an interview Friday with "The Hard Line" host Ed Berliner, the bestselling author of "Power Grab: Obama's Dangerous Plan for a One-Party Nation," and former Clinton adviser said Bill Clinton is bound to meet a "much less forgiving" world.

"Bill Clinton on the campaign trail does just fine," he said. "He's a born politician, but the world has changed. It's a lot less forgiving of rape and sexual misconduct and sexual harassment and a lot less kind to a woman who lets it continue and indeed profits from it politically."

"The world is much less forgiving of that now, and it's much more her scandal at this point," Morris added. "Does she enable it? And … every time Bill Clinton shows up he brings those issues with him."

Morris also warned that although the Clinton campaign is crying poor, her Sunday, Jan. 17 primetime debate could "badly hurt" her and have a bigger impact than her financials.

The Clinton campaign is "raising plenty of money," but "she's spending more than she's raising" and "will face financial problems down the road" he said.

"The important thing is how she does in debates and how she does on the platform," he said. "Coming up next week is the first debate in primetime. It's a Sunday night debate. Not right before Christmas, not right before New Year and a lot of people will be watching. She could be badly hurt."

Morris notes money has proved "unimportant" in the GOP presidential nomination race so far.

"Donald Trump has spent about a quarter of a million until this week on TV ads. He's in first place," he said.

"Until this week, [Texas Sen. Ted] Cruz has spent $1 million. He's in second place. [Florida Sen. Marco] Rubio until this week has spent $15 million. He's in third place. [Former Florida Gov. Jeb] Bush until this week spent almost $100 million and he's in last place."

And it's not just that Trump is getting a lot of media attention, making advertising less important.

"In any presidential race, any presidential candidate can get that kind of coverage – the others just don't have much to say," he said.
